I'm a gardener. July 7, 2009 RoyBlaze 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
I like to know what the conditions are outside and this is my second LaCrosse. The wind or rain sensor died on my first one and it was cheaper to buy the whole package. It is a nice looking display which you can put anywhere without looking geeky. It gives you all kinds of information, my concerns are rainfall amounts, temperature and barometeric pressure changes. It also maintains a history that you can look back on and a min/max function that is useful. In the winter I am especially mindful of the windchill which it also displays. My first one lasted 5 years and worked flawlessly all that time. This is a good buy.
Excellent weather station for the price November 7, 2009 Mark Huth 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
After doing a lot of research, I decided to purchase the WS-1612CT-IT Professional Weather Station for my home and I'm thrilled. The installation and setup was easy, once I found a good, unencumbered location for the wind and rain sensors as well as a somewhat protected and accessible location for the hygrometer and battery pack. The wires which connect the three sensors are long enough to make this work and the wireless connection to the display unit is a big plus.
The display shows a lot of information. Although it took awhile to "sort it out" (I'd have to look for a few seconds before finding outside temp, the thing I used most often), I'm now used to it and can glance and find what I am looking for quickly.
There are more expensive alternatives out there but none will provide the same value as this for those who want comprehensive weather information at an affordable price.

This unit is fairly easy to install and get working. I have several La Crosse weather products and have been very pleased with them. The Aerometer has to be mounted on a mast, I used an eight foot (2.5 M) length of dowel and it works well enough. It should really be on a 10 meter pole but I like the lower one as it gives the windspeed on the deck at the back of the house. The rain guage works well and I have it measuring in mm. It recordes every half mm of rainfall and is easy to reset to zero. Some of the functions settings are a bit complex and the manual should be kept on hand as the procedures are easily forgotten, especially if not used that often. The outdoor temp and humidity work well. The cords attached to the rain guage and aerometer plug into the temp and humidity units and that is where the batteries live as well. The cords are quite long and I have stuffed the left over cords into a tube attached to the deck rail. I would suggest using only one screw to attach that temp and humidity unit as it will be necessary to rotate it to replace the batteries.
A good well made unit that does what is supposed to.

This weather station is very good and easy to install. I cannot fault the accuracy of the measurements, as they compare very well with the local weather station.
The only problem I encountered was with the length of cables provided for the installation. The cables were either too long or not long enough. It was not a simple matter to get extension cables from the local supplier.
Excellent Weather Station November 13, 2009 John Chik (OC, CA, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
La Cross has a winner. The temp, humidity, rain gauge, forecasts, Max and Mins all work flawlessly. The sensors are about 50' from the display and not a problem.
